A network, not a store.
A gateway, not a warehouse.
Sery starts as a universal data gateway — every cloud storage you have, in one app, with preview without downloading and AI on top. Underneath, it's a private data network. Files never leave the storage they live in. We coordinate identity, catalog, and routing — never hold your file contents.
Our mission
Your data has scattered. A few S3 buckets at work. A B2 backup of your photos. A SFTP archive on a Hetzner box. A Drive folder of receipts. A NAS at home. Today the only way to look at them is to open four different tabs and download everything you want to see.
Sery Link closes the gap. It connects to every cloud storage you have, indexes the catalog locally, lets you preview tables and Parquet files without downloading them, and runs SQL on remote bytes. Search by filename or column name across all of it in one pass.
And once you install Sery Link on more than one of your machines, it stops being an app and starts being a network — a single place to search across the laptop, the desktop, the old Linux box in the basement, and every cloud bucket they each connect to. Without any of that data ever leaving the storage it lives in.
A network, not a store
Sery's cloud is a coordination layer, not a storage layer. We don't hold your files. We hold a small, content-blind catalog — filenames, schemas, column statistics — that lets the network route a question to the machine and source that can answer it.
Your raw files never leave the machines they live on. When you ask a question, the answer crosses the network — the data doesn't. When you turn the network off, every local feature still works. The structural property is the product.
That means our category isn't cloud storage and it isn't an AI tool. It's the coordination layer for data that's already yours.
Why we built this
The specific moment: needing the file with a customer_id column. Not remembering which of the ~40 CSVs in the downloads folder had it. Opening them one by one. Giving up. Re-exporting.
This shouldn't take twenty minutes. It should take one search.
Every existing tool missed the mark:
- ✗OS-level file search: knows filenames, not what's inside your CSVs. One machine at a time, never across cloud storage.
- ✗Cloud BI tools: want you to upload everything first. Your files aren't a database, and you don't want them on someone else's server.
- ✗Spreadsheet apps: can open one file at a time. Search across 100? Good luck.
- ✗Cloud storage browsers: show you the file list but make you download everything just to see what's inside. No SQL. No AI. No search across multiple buckets.
We thought: “What if a file manager actually understood the data inside the files?”
That question became Sery Link. No warehouse. No upload. No setup. Install it, watch a folder, and the next time you need a file by its column name — it's one search away.
How we're different
Preview without downloading
Click any Parquet on S3 → schema and sample rows in under two seconds via the Parquet footer (no full file pull). Run SQL on remote CSVs / TSVs / Parquets. Auto-profile columns (null %, unique, min/max/avg) computed locally. Other cloud-storage browsers show you the file list; we let you actually read what's inside.
Every storage you have, in one app
Nine storage protocols (Local, HTTPS, S3, Google Drive, SFTP, WebDAV, Dropbox, Azure Blob, OneDrive) plus four S3-compatible presets (Backblaze B2, Wasabi, Cloudflare R2, GCS). Add a source in seconds — credentials live in your OS keychain, not on our servers. One catalog, one search, one app instead of four.
Column-aware search across every source
Nothing else understands that a CSV has columns. Type 'price' and we surface every tabular file with a price-like column — across your local folders AND your S3 bucket AND your Drive folder — even when the filename says nothing about pricing.
AI in the cloud, files in your storage
Connect a Sery workspace ($19/mo) and ask plain-English questions in app.sery.ai/chat. The agent runs server-side; SQL travels to your machine via a private tunnel; only result rows come back. Raw files never leave the storage they live in.
Reads what you actually have
CSV, Parquet, Excel, XLSX, DOCX, PPTX, HTML, Jupyter notebooks. Tabular schemas extracted in-process; documents converted to markdown locally via mdkit (PDF text + Apple Vision OCR fallback for scans).
Small and unobtrusive
Lives in your menu bar. Auto-updates. macOS, Windows, Linux. Watches folders + remote sources in the background; wakes up when you need it.
Open on the desktop
The Sery Link desktop app is open source under AGPL-3.0. Every line of code that touches your files lives on github.com/seryai/sery-link. Read it, fork it, audit the network calls — the privacy guarantee is structural, not promised.
The cloud coordination layer (the network itself) is the business. Free forever for unlimited sources and unlimited machines, fully offline, no account required. $19/mo unlocks AI chat across all your sources, multi-machine search across your workspace, and lets you share with up to 5 invited machines on one bill — for a teacher and class, a consultant and clients, or a household.
Who it's for
Anyone with data scattered across multiple cloud storage services they pay for. DevOps engineers with company S3 + personal B2 + a side-project SFTP archive. Photographers with Lightroom-on-disk + Wasabi backup + iCloud + the client-delivery Dropbox. Journalists with a research SFTP + Drive for current work + OneDrive because the institution mandated it. Data engineers with company GCS + personal Drive + local CSVs that never made it to a warehouse.
If your current strategy is “open four tabs, search each one separately, download to look at anything” — Sery Link is for you.
Stop downloading files just to look at them.
Free, open source, runs on your machine. Connect every cloud storage you have. No account required to install.
